Jesse was especially photogenic in his plaid shirt today. But the cheerful smile turned to frustration as he got fed up with Mommy and Daddy taking all those photos!

Mad for plaid
What’s up, Doc?
Here’s Jesse with Dr. Cindy Kinder, who delivered him six weeks ago. Jesse accompanied me to my appointment, and the doctor graciously posed.
Dan says he will never forget the sight of the doctor, in scrubs and a face shield, climbing on the table and yanking the baby out like she was pulling weeds.
And then, hiccups
After a hard day at the office …
Everything’s a struggle
Here’s some tummy time from this morning. He’s really wishing he could still flip by just moving his head.
Six weeks old!
It’s been six weeks since Jesse was born, and a lot of things in our life have changed, including what constitutes a “night” of sleep.
One constant, however, is our love for our favorite restaurant, Coastal Flats, where we haven’t eaten in about two months.
But today’s the day we decided to introduce the baby to Fairfax Corner. (Technically, he’s not making his debut, since he rode along to get takeout at P.F. Chang’s on Mother’s Day and cruised around the Israel Fair a week ago Sunday. But it’s still a milestone.)
We’re dipping a toe in the water with lunch, rather than a bustling dinnertime experience.
Jesse held the pager, which started to buzz after only a minute or two.
Here’s Dan contemplating what to order, with the stroller folded next to him in the booth:
Jesse, of course, is ordering off the menu:
Ready for the big match
Good morning, merry sunshine
When I was in preschool, Miss Mary would chant with us each day, “Good morning, merry sunshine./We’re glad that you are here/To work and play together/On this new day of the year.” (Miss Mary’s album of inspirational music used to live in Grandpa Chuck’s vinyl collection years ago.)
So here’s Jesse greeting the day:
That’s how he rolls
Here’s Jesse “rolling over” (since he’s sort of leading with his head, it’s probably not intentional) for the fourth time in about three minutes.
He was so fast, I didn’t even reach for my phone until the third.
